All You Ever Wanted to Know About Insurance

Does Obamacare pay for NJ Auto Accident Injuries?

If you are a NJ driver that suffers injury from an auto collision, your first response to medical bill payment and/or other expenditures as a result of the accident is an auto insurance claim.

NJ No-Fault Insurance

NJ law mandates drivers to obtain a basic auto insurance policy – at the very least. Because the state adheres to a ‘no fault’ practice in regard to vehicle collisions, any basic policyholder who suffers an injury in relation to a collision initially submits a claim to his or her auto insurance policy.

Disclaimer: If a NJ driver chooses to purchase traditional auto insurance instead of the basic policy, he or she can bring a liability claim against the other driver if there are damages resulting from a crash.

The NJ basic auto insurance does not allow general lawsuits. Exceptions to this rule are when the crash causes:

  • Dismemberment

  • Major physical disfigurement

  • Substantial scarring

  • Dislocated fractures

  • Miscarriage

  • Permanent injury

NJ Auto Insurance Requisites

NJ’s basic plan is the minimum auto insurance coverage required by the state. It entails:

  • $5,0000 property damage coverage for each accident (not including repair or vehicle replacement costs)

  • $15,000 coverage or personal injury protection (known as PIP) for each individual

  • $250,0000 severe injury coverage for each person in an accident

To discuss the particulars of the NJ basic auto insurance plan or for more on additional coverage that drivers can carry atop of the basic plan, speak to an experienced independent insurance agent.
