4. Make sure your computer, mobile device and home Wi-Fi has up-to-date security measures in place, including a resilient password.
   
   
5. Public computer or Wi-Fi is vulnerable to malicious software and the unscrupulous. Never use either of them for personal shopping or bank services.
   
   
6. Keep safety measures in place in regard to passwords used for online accounts. Utilize differing passwords for different online accounts.
   
   
7. Contemplate switching your passwords following the holiday shopping period.
   
   
8. Never respond to phishing emails. These look as if they come from a reputable source but include links to malicious software. They also may lead you to a site that asks for personal info.
